The vines that compete in different
measure for the production of the Cirò in its
different typologies, are the gaglioppo, the white Greek
and they thresh Tuscan. We see in detail the characteristics
of each of these vines.
Gaglioppo
Known
also as magliocco or black mantonico, notice also the
presence in other Italian regions what the Abruzzo, Campania,
Umbria and the Brands.
In Calabria is also used heavily for the production of
different wines by the Cirò and shed in the whole
region. The particularity of the Calabrian ground, dryness
ground and sour, it furnishes the microclimate that more
it is fit for this vine, among the other very resistant
and characterized by an enough precocious maturation.
And' a berry vine redhead and the wine that it draws introduces
a strong alcoholic (it often overcomes the 14 degrees)
gradation with a notable body. The color of the gotten
wine is red intense ruby with wine perfumes, when wine
is young, that they evolve in a rich bouquet with the
time. With these characteristics we can say that the wine
gotten by grapes gaglioppo is also lent well to the aging
of six-eight years.
Greco
bianco
They were probably the
Pelagi to care this vine from the Tessaglia, in Greece,
and they spread him/it in the zones of the south of Italy
of their influence.
Wines are numerous that are produced by this vine and
they are all wines that have a notable history to the
shoulders. Among all we remember the Greek of Tufo, in
the avellinese, the Erbaluce, produced in province of
Novara and the Lacryma Christi produced to the slopes
of the Vesuvius. Leggenda vuole che il "Greco di
Bianco" know and such "Greco di Gerace",
the most prestigious and famous wine currently drawn by
grapes Greek, has furnished the necessary vigor to the
soldiers to defeat the army of Crotone, 10 times superior,
in the battle on the river Feast fought in 560 to.C. Surely
this is the wine of which more ancient testimony is had.
The wine gotten by grapes Greek has more intense pale
yellow yellow color with tendency to the gilded one and
reflected brass, of characteristic perfume of fruit shoal,
soft and harmonic taste, to drink young and however possibly
within the two years.
Trebbiano
toscano
The they thresh Tuscan
it participates in measure a lot of redoubt in the production
of Cirò. And' a vine, however, among the most diffused
in Italy, present in the composition of a lot of wines
doc both whites how red. adaptability to the different
typologies of ground and climatic conditions; his/her
notable productivity and the characteristics of the wine
that it derives, that is sufficiently neutral to be able
to be used in union with other wines stronger personality,
they are the factors pricipali that determines his/her
vast diffusion. The Gaglioppo, said also "Magliocco"
or "black Mantonico", it is the vine that is
like her/it master in the production of the red Cirò,
even if grapes are rarely used they thresh Tuscan and
Greek that in the vineyard you/they must not overcome
the 5% of the total one, and this composition very similar
to that used for the Cremissa authorizes to think that
really the Cirò is the descendant in straight line
of the Cremissa, so loved by the people of Great Greece.
Maintaining her same percentages of different grapes,
even if probably it would be more correct to consider
the Cirò a monovitigno rather than an uvaggio seen
the low percentages of different grapes by the galioppo,
the same can assume the typology "Rosy" when
vinificato comes with a defined technique "partially
in white", while it is assuming the typology "Red"
when vinificato comes "in red." As it regards
the typology "White", this is gotten by grapes
white Greek with possible additions of they Thresh thin
Tuscan to a maximum of 10%. The Cirò can be defined
"Classical" only when grapes originate from
the situated vineyards in the communes of Cirò
and Cirò Marina, while the wine's production to
Doc also includes the territories of the communes of Melissa
and Crucoli. With a period of 3 year-old aging and a 13,5%
least gradation, the red can bring the qualification of
"Reserve."
